Spring brings new things!

April showers bring May flowers! So here we are, in April, waiting for the rains to pass and for May to fill up our glass! It’s been almost two weeks since I’ve been home in Canada, and when I left Europe, the flowers and trees were in full bloom, so, this means I get TWO Springs, so I won’t cry too hard over the constant grey skies and soon, I KNOW they will be blue for all of us! Cheers to the bright beauty that is to come! Wair there’s MORE… This Saturday night, April 30th there is a benefit for HAITI, in Ottawa at D’arcy Magees on Sparks street. The music starts at 8pm and there will be heaps of great local music makers in support of the cause. There will be an album featuring all of the artists on stage that night, including myself at 9pm, Kellylee Evans, Jill Zmud and many others, here is the link!! http://www.ottawatonite.com/2011/04/ottawas-music-community-working-together-for-haiti/ With hopes to see some of you there! On May the 6th I am playing my first “Lindsay” show, a “Welcome Home” show at The Rainbow Bistro in the market. I will be performing a solo first set and my band will join me for a rockin’ second set. That’s next Friday night, the 6th of May at The Rainbow. I am in the middle of band rehearsals at the moment for said show, and also because I will start to record my second full length album with Dean Watson of Gallery Studios (in Ottawa) this weekend!! I am very excited to share some new songs with you all, and can only hope that the whole thing will be said and done with a big CD Release party at The Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield on Sunday the 5th of June… It’s going to be an ALL AGES show, so if you have little ones, BRING ‘em!!  Oh, and I am coming to Toronto for a show at the end of May on Friday the 27th, playing with Christina Maria at The Cameron House. It’s going to be a GREAT night indeed! In June I plan to head out on the road, for my first cross-Canada “driving” tour!! Leaving from Wakefield and heading out to Vancouver Island and BACK!! I’ve never driven it and am sure to be blown away by Canada’s beauty. Life has many things to look forward to and it all starts with the flowers that are coming soon to a yard near you!! Hope to see you out along the way… Love Lindsay xo

David Gray in person up close?

Hi Folks.. I just found out that I get to realize a dream! When I was working all those years ago in Ireland, I was introduced to a CD called "David Gray ~ Lost Songs" it would be the soundtrack to my life for quite sometime, until "White Ladder" came out... and I still play that one with fervour!!! In any case, he is coming to Ottawa's new and improved Museum of Nature, and LIVE 88.5 is having a live radio taping, live off the floor at the Museum featuring ME as well as David Gray. I am excited to say the least!! I am on from 12:05pm until 12:15pm... that's 10mintutes and approximately three tracks if all goes to plan!! David will be on from 1:35pm until 1:50pm. What a thrill, there are a few others too, Tara Holloway, Jonathan Chandler & Pete Hammond...stop by Live 88.5 online to have a listen... How amazing!! Wooooooooooooooo!!! Also coming up in the Life of Lindsay is a date I have at Ottawa's The Rainbow Bistro on May 19th, it's a Wednesday night, so if you are out and about in the market, make sure to drop in for a spell of Songs....Also, I started a new blog, because I really don't think I have enough to keep up with on the web... check it out if ya like http://lindsayferguson.blogspot.com/ Anyway, that's it for now, short and sweet, unless you go to my blog link and read that!!! Hahaaaaa... it's a beautiful sun shiny day out there... Enjoy xox

Autumn Blues n News

What a glorious time of year. The air is alive with new scents from old, the horizon dull and bright at the same time, the wind and stars blissfully fresh and clear... and me without a penny to my name. Thank heavens I can see the beauty in life, and the creativity,  musically, never ends. Thank heavens going for a bicycle ride down windy rocky roads doesn't cost money! Alas, to be a full time music maker in a coin driven world where one in 10 music makers don't make it! What kind of decision did I make, to be a contender in a race that is almost impossible to win? I ask myself this question on many occassions and always come up with another question: Life or death? I choose life and with life, in my world, comes music and not just in my stereo, mp3, computer or from someone else completely...no, I have this musical gift and it was given to me by the cosmos and the cosmos have demanded that I share...so share I will, I do, I must! Here is a clip of one of my favourite songs, sung this past year at The Ottawa Bluesfest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SayF4Vrsto&feature=related it's called "Sky'n Me" and I have recorded it "album" form, along with 6 other songs, which hopefully I will one day be able to press, put up on Itunes and sell from the stage... outta my hands into yours (sorry for the big huge font. just happened all of a sudden and I don't know how to change it back!) Anyway, I hope to sing for you soon, and if you are in the Ottawa area on the 14th of November (my birthday!!) I am singing at The Rainbow Bistro... it's a Saturday night... come on down... I'll be in fine form then... just a rant today, on a grey day in October... Lxo
